Michael R. McSorley, 58, a long-time Local 19 member and activist, passed away suddenly at home on April 6. He inspired many by overcoming a life on the Philadelphia streets, finishing his apprenticeship and eventually launching his own signatory firm. He was profiled in the Winter 2015–16 Members’ Journal. He was the owner of Tri-Aire Inc. and Roundology Inc., a pastor at Restoration City Ministries and self-publisher of his life story, We’ll See, which details how he overcame his previous life of crime and drew strength from family and friends. In one of the most ironic of the book’s many interesting passages, McSorely told of winning a bid for work at a local penitentiary; he arrived as a free man yet was greeted by former cellmates. Brother McSorley’s legacy will live on through his five daughters. A YouCaring account has been set up for funeral expenses: www.youcaring.com/themcsorleyfamily-794481. Any unused funds will help the youngest daughter, Kelly, finish her education at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.
