Partners for work In today’s economy, it takes teamwork and partnership to achieve success. The complex processes, technology and equipment make partnership a must for getting the job done right the first time. The same is true in the markets that many of our Brothers and Sisters work in—especially construction and fabrication. More than ever, labor and management share an interest in increasing visibility and ensuring we can beat competitors to capture new opportunities and markets wherever they emerge. This is why our joint Partners in Progress Conference early next year will be so important. Raising our game Our partnership with SMACNA contractors is stronger than ever, especially for enhancing and expanding our presence in the sheet metal industry. While labor and management working on common goals is a success in itself, we won’t rest there. We need to raise our game to ensure that Union bids are competitive, that we are recognized as not just the best but the only logical option—especially for capturing new opportunities. The Partners in Progress campaign takes our teamwork to the next level. The website PinP.org highlights success stories where we have expanded opportunities through joint initiatives and showcases the best practices involved in each case. Meetings like the upcoming PinP conference help us bring those best practices to our entire Union, and the many working groups there will seek new ways to expand hours and markets through the vital participation of your Local Union leadership working with management to achieve our collective goals. Read about our efforts at PinP.org and download the Partners In Progress magazine. I look forward to our February 2018 conference and to recommitting to our partnership with SMACNA. We are partners, and we are making progress. Because as always, our common goal is to win more hours, capture new opportunities and keep members on the job. Fraternally, Richard L. McClees General Secretary-Treasurer
